Instructors from the Italian Army have completed an Improvised Explosive Device Response Commander’s Course (IED RCC) for the Iraqi police. The course was held at the Iraq Police Academy and its objective was to provide basic principles to Iraqi officers who in the future will need to properly manage qualified Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel. Topics were related to the Role of the EOD Officer as dealt with during the management of an IED event, the evacuation and safety of the area considered, the safeguarding of human lives, notions about the collection of samples and finally the management of the return to normality after an event.
